Tourism leaflet manufacturer, Seymac Distribution Services has boosted its green credentials after the installation of a 30kWp solar array on the company’s warehouse.
The 12,000-sq-ft warehouse now boasts 120 PV panels which are expected to generate around 29,000kWh of energy a year – half of the business’ total annual consumption. The solar array was was installed by developer Renewable Energy Investments (REI).
The install was financed by REI, with Seymac purchasing electricity generated by the system. After the 20-year project lifespan, Seymac will take ownership of the solar array.
Seymac’s managing director, Tina Seymour said: “We are very aware of how important it is to care for the environment in this great county of Cornwall. We are determined to make every effort we can to minimise our carbon footprint and have introduced a series of measures under our Going Green initiative, including reducing waste and increasing the amount we recycle.
“Solar power was the obvious next step and REI's funding model allowed us to capitalise on the Cornish climate and our sizeable warehouse roof to gain a renewable energy system with clear benefits to the environment as well as our business.”
REI estimates that the new solar array will negate the emission on nearly nine tonnes of CO2 every year, saving up to £58,000 from Seymac’s electricity bills over the next 20 years in the process.
