Clydebank-headquartered PV installer, Campbell & Kennedy has announced that it has been appointed to undertake the supply and installation of solar on Medway Council’s main council office and the council’s Medway Tunnel control building.
The council has decided to install solar to help lower the utility bills associated with the two buildings while also demonstrating its commitment to energy efficiency and environmental improvement.
Councillor Allan Jarett, deputy leader and portfolio holder for finance at Medway Council, said: “I look forward to our energy bills reducing through the use of solar panels on our main headquarters and also at Medway Tunnel.”
Campbell & Kennedy will work on the whole PV project, from design to installation and maintenance. The company says that it will work with the council to ensure that the PV systems are designed to maximise return on investment.
Gerry Kennedy, managing director at Campbell & Kennedy added: “We not only want to deliver a great job for Medway Council but we will aim to deliver the contract in the most environmentally friendly way possible. These installations should reduce the council’s CO2 emissions by approximately 70 tonnes per annum, as well as save over £300,000 based on current energy prices.”
Councillor Jarett noted that the two projects represent just the first phase of the council’s plan to “ensure that all our buildings are considered for energy reduction measures”.
