Lightsource Renewable Energy, the UK’s largest solar energy generator, is set to build a nationwide partnership with local solar PV installers as it looks to expand its rooftop portfolio.

The majority of Lightsource’s £1.1 billion of UK investment into solar industry has up to now been deployed on large-scale ground mount projects. With an operating portfolio of more than 600MWp, the company is now looking to build long-term relationships with rooftop installers who will gain from Lightsource’s industry expertise, supply chain and funding. This announcement further reiterates the company’s commitment to the rooftop solar market as it seeks to deploy significantly more investment into rooftop installations.

Nick Boyle, CEO at Lightsource Renewable Energy, said: “We have often been approached by local installers asking how they can work with us, but we have always been restricted to partnering with large EPC contractors due to the size and scale of our projects in the past. We have listened to the installer community and worked hard to source funding and the other elements to make our plans for high volume deployment in the rooftop market a reality.

“We want the benefits for installers to be clear: we intend to fund a significant roll-out of projects and will work in partnership, giving them access to Lightsource suppliers and products while adhering to our strong quality and standards. This builds on the successes of our large scale portfolio and at the same time supports local businesses and the economy,” Boyle continued.

Lightsource differs from many of the competition in its ability to participate across the value chain, from development through the construction phase to owning and operating its own projects. Installers can now work in partnership with Lightsource directly in the knowledge that they will be working with a secure funder, have access to development support, tier one components and an expert team that already manages the largest portfolio of solar assets in the UK.

Boyle concluded: “We believe we have found a way to unlock the huge potential of rooftop solar across the UK market and are committed to sharing this opportunity with quality local installers. Our unrivalled track record speaks for itself, and we look forward to many new partnerships that will drive the next wave of solar PV deployment in the UK.”

Lightsource will provide further insight and details of this partnership at the Solar Energy UK conference at the NEC Birmingham, on 15 October. To register for the Lightsource Installers Workshop click here. Or, for further information email: [email protected]
