Ray Noble has been appointed as a strategic advisor and board member of Rated Solar Installer.

The Rated Solar Installer platform, supported by the British Photovoltaic Association (BPVA) and the National Solar Centre among others, allows customers to rate their experience with installers and products – similar to other websites covering mechanics, plumbers, electricians and building contractors.

The new position comes after Noble left his post at the Solar Trade Association in July. Commenting on his new post, Noble said that he was “delighted to be part of moving this exciting programme forward”.

Noble continued: “I have been talking to Reza and the rest of the team for some time and have kept an eye on the development of the programme. Rated Solar Installer is an excellent initiative and takes the solar industry on another step forward to becoming a sustainable industry. Rated Solar Installer will ensure the customer’s journey is safe and secure in the knowledge that they will have guaranteed quality products fitted by fully trained and audited installers.

“I will be focussing my role on ensuring the quality remains high, processes are audited and the customers are protected. It is expected that by reducing the sales and marketing costs of installers this programme will also provide lower costs to the customers.”

Reza Shaybani, founder of Rated Solar Installer, and chairman of the British Photovoltaic Association (BPVA) welcomed the appointment, stating:  “We are proud to have Ray as part of the team. Ray brings a wealth of experience, knowledge and passion to the programme. Ray has been instrumental in creating the solar PV industry in the UK and his work in the industry and government has resulted in the growth of the industry. We share the same vision and passion for the future of our fantastic industry.”

Rated Solar Installer is planning on launching globally early in 2015.
