International PV system provider, the Conergy Group has announced that it will rebrand Wirsol Solar UK.

Conergy acquired Wirsol Solar UK back in January and claims that its addition makes the company one of the UK’s five largest companies involved in engineering, procurement and construction of solar farms.

As of Tuesday, Wirsol Solar UK will be known as Conergy West Sussex Ltd. Conergy UK and Ireland’s managing director, Robert Goss will also operate as managing director for the subsidiary, replacing the outgoing Mark Hogan.

Conergy West Sussex will focus on the development of ground-mounted solar farms with Conergy UK & Ireland focusing on the finance, EPC and O&M of solar farms. Both subsidiaries will benefit from the recent $60 million bank guarantee from Deutsche Bank that will allow the downstream solar company to expand the capacity of its forthcoming projects by as much as 400MWp.

Commenting on the rebrand, Robert Goss said: “Buying Wirsol was not just about adding to our solar farm pipeline. What we were looking for was to add to our experience, network and reach, and to prepare for the next phase of British solar which is just starting to take shape. Wirsol has strengths in project development and large rooftops that we wanted and is already proving an excellent fit.”

Conergy has confirmed that both subsidiaries will remain at their respective head offices in Milton Keynes and Pullborough in West Sussex.
