Chinese module manufacturer, Renesola is to supply 22MW of its modules to two solar projects in the UK.
Renesola UK will provide its polycrystalline Virtus I and Virtus II solar modules to two ground-mount solar plants.
The first project is the 10.1MW Low Carbon project in Bottom Plain in Dorset.
ReneSola’s modules will also be supplied to the 15.6MW Cofely GDF Suez project in Bilsham Farm, Arundel. The solar power plant is part of a local initiative to provide clean energy for the grid and will power 3,600 homes.
Dmitry Van Havere, project manager of installation and building management, Cofely GDF Suez said the solar power plant will “contribute towards the UK's renewable energy targets and show how agriculture and power generation can work together to develop farm-friendly solar installations.”
The two solar farms will two module sizes of 250W and 255W, to increase efficiency.
Ian Glover, general manager of ReneSola UK praised the GDF Suez and Low Carbon partnerships and said Renesola is happy to be tackling “the issues of climate change and UK energy security”.
“We anticipate high demand for our modules over the next two quarters and have been working with our Operating Equipment Manufacturer partners to ensure stock will be available for all Engineering, Procurement and Construction contractors rushing to complete projects before anticipated changes in UK solar policy”, said Glover.
John Cole, chief investment officer of renewable project owner and operator, Low Carbon, said “renewable energy technologies have demonstrated substantial performance improvements and efficiency gains and are now being deployed at significant scale.”
