Hanergy Solar Group has proposed a name change to better reflect its focus on thin-film PV technologies.
The company hopes to gain shareholder approval at a special general meeting on August 18 to change its name to ‘Hanergy Thin Film Power Group Limited.’

The company is planning a brand new corporate image and recognition for the future development of the company that is dependent on thin-film technology and markets.
Several China-based companies have also changed names to better reflect a shift in business focus from upstream to downstream markets, such as GCL-Poly, United Photovoltaics and Shunfeng Photovoltaic.
