Waverney District Council has approved plans to install a 7.25MW solar farm at Playters New Farm in Beccles, Suffolk.

The developer, Eco Energy World plans on installing almost 28,000 solar modules, which will be capable of generating 6,719MWh annually – enough to supply around 2,170.

The council report for the project noted that: “for its size this site is arguably the best screened of any of the solar farms that the council has considered.”

Commenting on the project, Svante Kumlin from Eco Energy World said: “We have been working through the planning process with Council officers to ensure we bring forward a good quality application that provides clean renewable energy without harming local views.”

Eco Energy World recently won planning permission for an 11.5MW solar farm at Tyle’r-fedwen Farm, Cwmafan. The London-based solar developer recently sold a portfolio of four UK PV projects totaling 56MW of capacity.
