Foresight Solar Fund has announced that it has acquired its seventh solar farm in the UK.

The 10.7MW solar project in Hunters Race, West Sussex takes the solar fund’s portfolio to a total of 111MW.

The company also saw its net asset value jump to £155.4 million from £148.6 million, as of 30 June 2014.

Looking ahead, the company expects to grow to £250 million of solar assets through its planned acquisition of two solar farms in Kencot and Bournemouth that will total a further 74MW of capacity. Foresight expects both of the projects to operational later this year in time to claim support under the Renewable Obligation (RO) scheme.

The large-scale solar sector in the UK has experienced unprecedented growth over recent months, with the sector installing almost 1GW of ground-mounted projects in the first quarter of 2014 alone. As a result, the government is consulting over plans to remove support for solar farms under the RO in order to alleviate perceived pressure on consumers’ bills.
