British Solar Renewables has appointed Simon Roberts of SSE as director of Grid UK & Worldwide for its independent connection provider, Renewable Energy Connections.
Roberts worked at SSE for 13 years as commercial unit manager, holding responsibility for design teams for low voltage and high voltage generation as well as technical and regulation aspects of distributed network operator (DNO) connections.
Commenting on his new position, Roberts said: “I am pleased to join the energetic team and British Solar Renewables and Renewable Energy Connections. Bringing my Electricity Distribution knowledge, I am hoping to build on the relationships in place and help develop the connections area of the business.”
British Solar Renewables revealed that it connected 10 solar farms totalling 113MW of capacity before the renewable obligation rate dropped in April this year. The company expects to double that capacity by the end of the year.
