Mark Mendenhall, president of Trina Solar Americas, said: “The selection of our high quality panels for this project is a validation of their ability to perform in a variety of environments. We look forward to our panels providing Kaltemp and Tambo Real II with reliable, low-cost solar power for years to come.”

The project was built on a site that is mainly used to grow avocados and clementines. Kaltemp decided to install the project on the land, which the company owns, after it was discovered that part of the area was not suitable to grow cherries.

The facility will function as Kaltemp’s research and development (R&D) lab, as the site’s desert conditions will be used to test various technologies and modules.

The plant, which utilizes SMA supplied inverters, ABB transformation stations and mounting equipment provided by Hilti, is Kaltemp’s first PV project.
