Thermal processing equipment specialist, BTU International is introducing its new Stacked Wafer Inline Furnace Technology (SWIFT) on its ‘Meridian’ platform at SNEC, 2014.

SWIFT is claimed to enable wafer throughputs of up to 15,000 wafers per hour and can be deployed for processing both traditional and PERC p-type solar cells, according to the company.

“As PV demand continues to grow vigorously, manufacturers are strategizing the best ways to expand capacity. We are presenting a scalable technology that can provide up to 15,000 wafers per hour, while conserving factory floor space and lowering cost per watt,” said Bob Bouchard, corporate marketing manager for BTU International. “This technology is adaptable to both traditional and PERC p-type cells and provides a real game-changing process solution,”

BTU also noted that it would showcase the latest developments in co-diffusion processing of n-type solar cell structures, which is claimed to eliminate process steps, enabling cost-effective mass production of n-type bi-facial cells.

BTU said that a new dopant application method developed had enabled patterned emitter formation for IBC and other back contact cell structures.
