Utility-scale inverters by US manufacturer Solectria Renewables will be used at five PV projects in Massachusetts totalling 13MW, purchased by renewable energy asset management firm NuGen Capital Management.
Solectria, a locally headquartered company with regional offices in Colorado, Florida and California, supplied the five ground-mounted Massachusetts projects with its SMARTGRID 500 Inverters (SGI 500). The company's SGI 500XT and SGI 500XTM models both have a CEC weighted efficiency of 98%.

The five grid-connected projects for NuGen are located in the small towns of Lunenberg, Whately, Hadley and Swansea. Electricity generated from the projects will be net metered, with utilities offering the net metering credits to local businesses and municipalities. NuGen owns and operates solar power and other renewable energy facilities, as well as investing in real estate used for generation and storage. The Rhode Island company seeks out viable areas for grid-connected solar, including commercial properties.
Solectria recently also announced a 30MW PV plant in Mexico, to be built as part of an “innovation partnership” between the state of Massachusetts and Mexico. The company celebrated seven years of profitability in January.
