Products offered by the renewable energy division of Power One will be sold under the branding of ABB, the Swiss power technology corporation, which acquired Power One in July last year.

Power One Renewable Energy Business is being transitioned to the parent company name in May. At the time of the acquisition by ABB, Power One was reportedly the second biggest inverter manufacturer in the world while ABB was the sixth. The deal was reportedly worth around £675 million

The product range offered by Power One will remain the same, but under the ABB name, with product certifications also to remain valid. The range will be presented at trade shows this year including Intersolar Europe in Munich from 4 to 6 June.

At the end of April, ABB announced that Power Solutions, another division of Power One, would be sold to electronics manufacturer Bel Fuse. According to ABB, Power Solutions had a “limited fit and synergies with ABB’s other businesses”.

In a statement issued at the time, ABB said that Power One’s inverter business, conversely, “is core to ABB’s renewable strategy and will remain in the portfolio of the group”.
