Chinese electronics giant, Huawei, has appointed Alison Finch to take on a new role focusing solely on the UK solar inverter market.

Finch will work as business development director for the UK & Ireland, reporting to Chen Guoguang, head of PV inverter solutions and marketing in Germany.

Huawei is targeting the UK solar inverter market out of a desire to diversify. The company believes its decade-long experience in DC to AC technology means that it will not be entering the space as a novice.

The company is aiming to leverage its existing service network and platform to promote its solar inverter offerings to the UK market. Huawai has stated that it will be primarily focusing on solar farms and commercial rooftops.

Alison Finch sits on the executive committee of the British Photovoltaic Association after running her own solar installation company.

Huawei currently employs over 7,700 staff in Europe with 850 working in R&D, generating revenues of over US$39 million in 2013.
