Dorset-based steel framing specialists, Corbin Industries, has invested £500,000 in new state-of-the-art Amada CNC computer controlled steel cutting, punching and folding machinery.
The company invested £500,000 in the machinery in order to meet increasing demand from the UK’s utility solar sector, which recently grew to become Europe’s largest solar sector.
The company claims that the new flexible robotic system works straight from design to manufacture, which enables a quick turn round of high precision mounting components in one process – a fact the company believes will allows increased flexibility as well reduced waste and production cost.
The company notes that its lean manufacturing processes are one of the efficiency gains that are helping to drive the rapid adoption of solar PV as a cost-effective source of clean energy in the UK. Corbin Industries is aiming to position the UK as a global centre of excellence for solar engineering and product design in order to take advantage of key overseas markets.
