Argyll and Bute Council has appointed Campbell & Kennedy’s energy division, CK Energy, to install solar on eight schools across Argyll and Bute.
The solar schools project is designed to help the council acheive its commitment to reduce carbon emissions by 20% and fossil fuel reductions by 12% by 2014. Last year, the council identified the eight schools as suitable projects to receive solar PV against its investment and key benefits criteria.
In total, 1,380 solar modules will be installed across the schools, making up 345kWp of new capacity. CK Energy will manage the project, including the turnkey consenting, design, installation and commissioning of the solar arrays.
Commenting on the project, Gerry Kennedy, managing director at Campbell & Kennedy said: “It’s extremely positive that Argyll and Bute Council have decided to undertake solar PV installations. We’ve seen an increase in demand for solar as it is a great way to reduce CO2 emissions and energy costs. We look forward to working with the Council and building a strong relationship.”
CK Energy predicts that the installations will be complete by the end of October this year.
