The systems will operate under a 25-year power purchase agreement and will save the schools US$900,000 in the first year of operation.

“We have successfully deployed solar energy systems at many schools and academic institutions, and are always impressed by the great value proposition solar brings to the educational sector in particular,” said Kam Mofid, CEO, RGS Energy. “RGS Energy is delighted to help the SUSD achieve its goals of fiscal responsibility, educational excellence and effective environmental stewardship.”

The financing framework will allow the schools to build the projects with no upfront costs.

The car port installations will be completed by the end of 2014.
