Solarcentury collaborates with Hanwha Q Cells for 10MW Somerset solar farm

Solarcentury has completed a 10MW solar farm in Somerset that is expected to generate enough electricity to power 3,000 households every year.

The 10MW solar farm uses 40,000 Hanwha Q Cells modules, building on the companies' partnership which saw the completion of a 15MW solar farm in Hardingham last year.

Solarcentury is responsible for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of the site. Commenting on the partnership, Frans van den Heuvel, CEO of Solarcentury explained why the EPC chose to use Hawha’s modules. He said: “Hanwha Q Cells has impressive production facilities and excellent service. We appreciate the flexibility provided by working with a European manufacturing partner.”

Hanwha Q Cells claims that the completion of the solar farm helps underline the company’s renewed commitment to the European market, including the UK.

“We are pleased to implement another project together with Solarcentury. The solar power plant will deliver 10MWh of clean energy, contributing significantly to the area’s CO₂ reduction. In general, we are seeing an increased demand for our ‘engineered in Germany’ products,” said Jonathan Goose, director sales UK, Ireland and Scandinavia, Hanwha Q Cells.
