Global module manufacturer, JA Solar Holdings is to supply 7.8MW of modules to large-scale UK developer, British Solar Renewables.

The 7.8MW will be high-efficiency full square mono modules; JAM6R 270W P-Type in a 60-cell format with the shipment complete by the first quarter of 2014.

The modules are for a 7.8MW solar farm, in the south west of the UK.

In 2013 JA Solar supplied four ground-mount projects by British Solar Renewables, including a 30MW shipment in November 2013.

Baofang Jin, executive chairman and CEO of JA Solar said there has been a growing demand in the UK for high-efficiency products and JA Solar hopes to continue expanding in the fast growing UK market.

Alastair Mounsey, UK manager at JA Solar said: “Maximising returns on renewable investments requires not only lower sourcing costs but also maximum lifetime yield,” and predicts JA Solar’s modules will “ultimately generate higher returns for British Solar Renewables over the lifetime of this project”.

British Solar Renewables recently entered a joint venture with Santander to invest in the construction of 56.5MW of solar farms across the UK, and last month, British Solar Renewables received £40 million in construction financing to deliver five PV projects in the UK, totalling 42MW of capacity.

British Solar Renewables also won planning permission for a 5.8MW solar farm in Wiltshire back in December 2013.

JA Solar will be exhibiting its 270W full square mono solar modules at Ecobuild London from March 4-6.
