The energy efficiency sector has received a training boost, with the South West Energy Centre partnering with National Association of Professional Inspectors and Testers (NAPIT) to provide courses for installers.
Tradespeople will be able to take courses at the now NAPIT Approved Centre, part of South Devon College, on the installation of efficiency measures identified by the Green Deal and the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS).
“The centre provides outstanding facilities for installers looking to advance their skills, making it an ideal venue to gain qualifications required for NAPIT Certification,” said Martin Bruno, COO, NAPIT.
NAPIT has predicted that 2014 will be a crucial year for energy efficiency in the UK as new policies take hold and create more opportunity for installers.
“This partnership is very important for the Centre in its role as a regional hub for training and certification,” said Paddy McNevin, director, South West Energy Centre.
“It will provide people in the southern part of the region with a local training and accreditation venue that will enable businesses to build a skilled workforce in order to benefit from the opportunities in the fastest growing sector in the UK,” said McNevin.
“The low carbon sector urgently requires qualified people to undertake measures to reduce the country’s carbon footprint and reach the agreed targets,” he added.
