The world's largest PV-diesel hybrid power plant with battery storage system is currently being built in the Bolivian province of Pando. SMA Solar Technology AG (SMA, Niestetal, Germany) is not only supplying photovoltaic (PV) inverters for this project, but is also providing an SMA Fuel Save Controller for demand-driven control of solar power feed-in, as well as four newly developed inverters for large-scale battery storage systems that use lithium-ion technology. PV microinverter maker Enphase Energy joins forces with YHI New Zealand, announces pricing of public offering of common stock

Enphase Energy Inc. (Petaluma, Calif., US), a manufacturer of solar photovoltaic (PV) microinverters, on August 13th, 2014 announced it has partnered with YHI (New Zealand) Ltd. to distribute its microinverter-based solar photovoltaic (PV) system to the New Zealand solar installer community. YHI will ship Enphase’s products from six warehouses throughout New Zealand. On August 14, 2014 Enphase Energy, Inc. also announced the pricing of the previously announced underwritten public offering of 3,216,540 shares of its common stock at USAD 10.50 per share. Read more

Phoenix Solar AG publishes H1, 2014 results: Revenue decreased by 82.4 percent

Phoenix Solar AG (Sulzemoos, Germany), an international photovoltaic system integrator that is listed on the Prime Standard of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, has presented its report on the first half of the 2014 financial year on August 14th, 2014. Phoenix Solar revenues dropped to EUR 12.1 million (H1/2013: 68.4 million). While the revenue for the first quarter still had been in line with the company’s expectations, the figure for the second quarter and the first half year as a whole is below planning. Read more

Alabama steel manufacturing company goes off the grid with a solar PV system

Facing rising energy costs and increased power demand from their steel manufacturing and fabrication plants, Apel Steel Corporation in Cullman, Alabama contracted ACE, LLC SOLAR to move them off-grid with a solar photovoltaic (PV) generating system. The 340kW system was designed and developed to generate 470,213 kWh of AC electrical power annually to meet 98% of the energy requirements for the heavy machinery and plant operations and is expected to save Apel Steel more than USD 3,000,000 on its electric bills over the 30-year life expectancy of the system, Solar FlexRack a division of Northern States Metals, reports. Recom Solar AG launches PV module production in Europe

Recom AG (Athens, Greece) announced that the company will begin solar photovoltaic (PV) module production in Europe by September 1st, 2014. Manufacturing capacity in Italy will be continuously increasing between September and December 2014, and is scheduled to exceed 500MW. Since the modules will be manufactured in Europe, customers will be receiving orders faster than ever before, the company, which so far solely manufactured modules in Malaysia, emphasizes. CBD Energy acquires equity interest in Thai Environmental Engineering Group, secures additional 100MW PV project pipeline

CBD Energy Limited (Sydney, Australia), a global provider of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, has entered into an agreement with Environmental Engineering Group Thailand (EEG) to acquire 30 percent of the company. As part of the transaction CBD intends to grant EEG a sub-license to utilize the Westinghouse Solar brand in Thailand. The company has developed a unique market position with an attractive model for commercial solar rooftops which is supported by a partnering agreement with the Government owned Provincial Electricity Authority’s renewable energy subsidiary PEA ENCOM.
