SolarCity announces record PV deployments, orders in Q2, 2014 financial results

SolarCity Corp. (San Mateo, California, U.S.) on August 7th, 2014 announced financial results for the second fiscal quarter ended June 30, 2014. In the quarter the company continued to build out a stronger and broader platform to significantly expand the adoption of distributed solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. “We experienced unprecedented demand in the quarter with triple-digit year-over-year growth in all our key operating metrics. Our development efforts continued to gather momentum with 107 MW deployed and 218 MW booked in the quarter,” reads the press release. Armstrong Asset Management (AAM; Singapore, Malaysia) has committed to provide USD 29 million to fund the construction of a pipeline of bilateral solar photovoltaic (PV) projects in the Philippines being developed by the development company, nv vogt (Singapore). The first project is a 6.25 MW ground-mounted and grid-connected solar PV plant in South Cotabato in the southern region of Mindanao, with construction scheduled to begin construction in August 2014, and expected to commence commercial operations by December this year. On August 7th, 2014 EMCORE Corporation (Albuquerque, New Mexico, U.S.) released financial results for its fiscal third quarter ended June 30th, 2014. Consolidated revenue was USD 44.6 million, representing a 5.5% increase from the Q2. The company offers a broad portfolio of compound semiconductor-based products for the fiber optics and space solar photovoltaic (PV) power markets. Fiber Optics revenues increased by 10.8% over the immediate preceding quarter to USD 26.2 million, and solar photovoltaics (PV) revenue decreased by 1.2% to USD 18.4 million compared to Q2. Energy Trend: China installed 3.3 GW of PV generation capacity in the first half of 2014

In H1, 2014, China has installed 3.3GW of solar photovoltaic (PV) power capacity, representing a 100% increase compared to the same period of last year, TrendForce's (Taipei, Taiwan) EnergyTrend division reports. China’s National Energy Administration (NEA) explains in an official release that the newly installed ground-mounted solar PV capacity was 2.3GW and the distributed PV generation (DG) was 1GW.
