IHS Technology: Huawei makes largest 12-month gains in the global PV inverter market

According to the latest “PV Inverter Market Tracker” report from the Power and Energy service of IHS Technology (El Segundo, California, US) SMA, ABB, and Omron lead the global solar photovoltaic (PV) inverter market-share rankings. However, over the first three quarters of this year, Chinese telecommunications company Huawei made the largest gain in global PV inverter market share, with just over 2 percentage points growth. University of Toronto researchers develop new technique for spraying solar PV cells onto products

Illan Kramer and colleagues at the University of Toronto have invented a new way to spray solar photovoltaic (PV) cells onto flexible surfaces using miniscule light-sensitive materials known as colloidal quantum dots (CQDs) - a major step toward making spray-on solar cells easy and cheap to manufacture. “My dream is that one day you’ll have two technicians with Ghostbusters backpacks come to your house and spray your roof,” says Kramer, a post-doctoral fellow with the Ted Sargent group in The Edward S.
