Dubai Silicon Oasis to host Chang Zhou Almaden’s manufacturing facility designed to produce up to 400,000 PV panels annually

Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA, United Arab Emirates), the regulatory body for the Dubai Silicon Oasis, has signed an agreement with Chang Zhou Almaden Ltd. (Changzhou, China), one of the world’s largest producers of solar photovoltaic anti-reflective coated glass, to host its new manufacturing and training facility at the integrated free zone technology park. The 15,000 sq meter factory will be set up at a total capital cost of AED 110 million, marking Almaden’s foray into the MENA region. Designed to produce up to 400,000 solar PV panels every year, the manufacturing facility is set for completion in Q1 2015. Read more

Commercial properties in the UK to benefit from roof-mounted PV systems with east/west orientation

Solar photovoltaic (PV) installations with east/west orientation generate around 30 percent more solar power than south-facing systems fitted to flat roofs of the same size, Mounting solutions manufacturer Renusol (Cologne, Germany) emphasizes. This is due to lower angles of inclination that allow the PV modules to be fitted without any gaps between the rows, meaning that roof space is put to full use. Read more

The draft amended Commitment, due to be discussed by members this month, reads: "We will engage with the community in advance of submitting a planning application and, where commercially viable and where there is a local appetite, we will innovate in investment opportunities for local communities in their local solar farms including partnerships with local authorities." U.S. market research shows solar PV owners cross all income brackets

Most people going solar in Massachusetts have household incomes (HHI) of less than USD 150,000, according to a survey conducted by New England Clean Energy (Hudson, Mass., US), president Mark Durrenberger announced. Nearly 250 customers responded to the Hudson-based solar photovoltaic (PV) installer's survey on HHI. The results show that people purchasing solar electricity systems, with or without financing, cross all income brackets, but predominantly (67 percent) earn less than USD 150,000 per household.
