Tire manufacturer Continental installs 6.1 MW rooftop PV array at its tire plant in Hefei, China

The international tire manufacturer, automotive supplier, and industrial partner Continental on November 12th, 2014 started a solar photovoltaic (PV) power project at its tire plant in Hefei, China. Currently, the preliminary design of the PV project has been completed and both sides have jointly established the project teams. Trina Solar announces new efficiency records for silicon solar PV cells

Trina Solar Limited (Changzhou, China) on November 17th, 2014 announced that its State Key Laboratory of PV Science and Technology of China has set new world records for high efficiency p-type and n-type silicon solar cells. The p-type mono-crystalline silicon solar cell on an industrial Cz wafer, which integrates advanced technologies including back surface passivation and local back surface field, reached an efficiency of 21.40% (156×156 mm2). This result has been independently confirmed by Fraunhofer ISE CalLab in Germany. Read more

Solar Frontier installs thin film PV system for sake brewery in Japan

(Shanghai, China) on November 17th, 2014 announced that the rated power of its solar photovoltaic (PV) modules assembled by 60 multi-crystalline silicon solar cells has reached a new milestone of above 280 W. This newly achieved result, which has been independently confirmed and certified by TUV Rheinland of Germany’s Shanghai Testing Center, sets a record-high 17.2% conversion efficiency to date for the PV panels consisting of 60 regular industrial size (156x156 mm2) multi-Si cells and using a single standard junction box. Concentrating solar power: FLABEG FE completes mirror delivery for the 160 MW Noor I project in Morocco

FLABEG FE GmbH (Furth im Wald, Germany) in November 2014 announced the completion of mirror delivery for the Noor I Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) Independent Power project in Ouarzazate, Morocco. More than 530,000 of annealed RP3 mirrors have been supplied by FLABEG FE for the parabolic trough plant, FLABEG reports. The 160 MW project is owned by ACWA Power Ouarzazate, established under Moroccan Law. It is a greenfield project, being developed on a BOOT (build, own, operate and transfer) basis with 3 hours of thermal energy storage. (CSUN, Nanjing) on November 14th, 2014 announced that the Company has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Deniz Finansal Kiralama A.S., a subsidiary of DenizBank Financial Services Group (Istanbul, Turkey), establishing a strategic partnership to finance solar photovoltaic (PV) projects through financial leasing in Turkey. According to the MOU, DenizLeasing will facilitate and provide capital leasing for solar PV projects of up to 100 MW deploying China Sunergy's PV modules and other components. Read more
