GTM Research: Megawatt-scale PV O&M and Asset Management to surpass 88 GW by the end of 2014

The global market for solar photovoltaic (PV) Operations and Maintenance (O&M) and Asset Management (AM) will surpass 88 GW by the end of 2014, according to GTM Research (Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.). The market research company forecast the PV O&M and market to almost triple by 2018, driven predominantly by China, the U.S. and Japan. Read more

Conergy completes 1.5 MW PV installation on former landfill in Sacramento, integrating recreation and wattage

Conergy, one of the world's largest downstream solar photovoltaic (PV) companies, recently completed a 1.5 megawatt solar installation on Sutter's Landing Park, a regional recreation area in Sacramento, California. The PV installation will produce approximately 2,300 megawatt hours of solar power annually for the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD), which will be used for residential and commercial business consumption, Conergy announced. SolarWorld Boosts Manufacturing in Oregon

U.S. solar panel industry leader SolarWorld today announced plans to increase capacity from 380 MW to 530 MW, and to boost advanced cell manufacturing capacity at its Hillsboro, Oregon plant by 100 MW, adding 200 jobs at the location, which will grow to 900 employees. The Bonn-based company also manufactures in the German cities of Freiberg and Arnstadt. “The factory will remain the largest of its kind in the Western Hemisphere. The company views this expansion as a stepping-stone to 630 MW capacity in the near future,” SolarWorld said. Read more

The newest product in SolarCity’s Zep Solar line should make it possible for more businesses, schools and government organizations to build carport structures that create shaded parking and also provide solar electricity at a lower rate than electricity from their utility companies, the company announced. SPI Solar (Roseville, California, US) announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Xinwei Solar Power Engineering (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., has entered into a framework purchase agreement for the acquisition of a 100% equity interest in Shanghai All-Zip Roofing System Group Co., Ltd. with All-Zip Roofing and its owners, including five private equity investors. All-Zip Roofing is a provider of comprehensive solar photovoltaic (PV) roofing solutions in the Chinese market. It holds several key patents concerning roofing, SPI solar notes. Read more
