SunEdison closes financing for a 26 MW Vega solar photovoltaic plant in Merced County, CA with Deutsche Bank Securities

SunEdison (Belmont, California, US) on October 23rd, 2014 announced that it has closed on construction financing underwritten by Deutsche Bank Securities Inc. The funds will be used to construct a 26 megawatt (MW) DC Vega solar photovoltaic (PV) plant located in Merced County, CA. Vega will be composed of approximately 78,700 SunEdison 330 W (watt) monocrystalline solar PV panels. The plant is designed to generate enough electricity to power over 3,500 homes per year. Southern Company (Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.) subsidiary Southern Power on October 23rd, 2014 announced the acquisition of the 150 megawatt (MW) Solar Gen 2 solar photovoltaic (PV) facility in California from First Solar Inc. (Tempe, AZ, U.S.). As the largest solar PV facility in the Southern Power portfolio, Solar Gen 2 is expected to generate enough electricity to power more than 60,000 average California homes. Solar Power Inc. (Roseville, California, US) on October 24th, 2014 announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, SPI Solar Power Suzhou Co., Ltd. (SPI Meitai Suzhou) has entered into a framework purchase agreement with ZhongNeng GuoDian New Energy Development and Investment Jiangsu Co., Ltd., with the intention to acquire six solar photovoltaic (PV) projects currently under construction in China, and another framework purchase agreement with ZhongNeng GuoDian Green Ecological Cooperation and Development Jiangsu Co., Ltd., with the intention to acquire the equity interest in ZhongNeng New Energy.
