Thursday, 1.9.2014 - 9:03 (Solarserver)
Bernreuter Research (Würzburg, Germany) has released a new report which finds that conditions of excess supply will return to the global polysilicon industry in 2014, and will bring down spot prices to USD 16 per kilogram by year's end. “The 2014 Who's Who of Solar Silicon Production” finds that while polysilicon production fell 4% to 238,000 metric tons in 2013, that another 66,000 metric tons of capacity is due to come online in 2014. And while the growing solar photovoltaic (PV) market in 2013 allowed the reduction of polysilicon inventories, the report expects that trend to end in 2014.
