(Nanjing, China) on August 8th, 2013 announced that the Company has introduced the Super Black solar photovoltaic (PV) module following an initial custom order for a 60kW rooftop project in Hawaii. Delivery is expected in mid-August. The Super Black module offers a pure black appearance for the entire panel including welding strips, making the module well suited for high-end rooftop projects and integrated constructions. Wattner AG (Cologne, Germany) has bought ten utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) power plants with a total capacity of 48 megawatts (MW). ReneSola will deliver 7.5 MW of PV modules in August 2013 and 21.5 MW of PV modules in January 2014 for the La Huayca II PV plant, which will be built by a joint venture of Saferay and Seltec Ltda. Sempra U.S. Gas & Power LLC (San Diego, California, U.S.) has awarded AMEC plc (London) the contract to design and construct the 250 MW Copper Mountain Solar 3 solar photovoltaic (PV) project in the U.S. state of Nevada. Construction has already begun on the project, and AMEC expects to complete Copper Mountain 3 in 2015. The project is the third phase of the Copper Mountain Solar complex near Boulder City, following on the 58 MW Copper Mountain Solar 1 and the 150 MW Copper Mountain Solar 2, 92 MW of which has been completed. Both Yingli Green Energy Holding Co. Ltd. (Boading, China) and Trina Solar Ltd. (Changzhou, China) have upgraded their solar photovoltaic (PV) module shipment guidances for the second quarter of 2013. Yingli states that its shipments will increase 23-24% over the first quarter, and Trina expects to ship 630-660 MW. This follows on news that Canadian Solar has beaten its guidance to ship 455 MW of PV modules during the quarter. With Sharp Corp. (Tokyo) reporting a 36% year-over-year increase in shipments and SunPower Corp. Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) has chosen three companies to install two large-scale battery systems in the northern part of the nation to support the expansion of wind and solar on Japan's electric grid. Through the Large-scale Storage Battery System Demonstration Project, Hokkaido Electric Power Inc. (Sapporo, Japan) and Sumitomo Electric Industries Ltd. (Osaka, Japan) will jointly install a 60 MWh redox-flow battery on the island of Hokkaido. Additionally, Tohoku Electric Power Co. Ltd.
