GT Advanced Technologies Inc. (Merrimack, New Hampshire, U.S.) has released results for the second quarter of 2013, reporting a slight year-over-year increase in revenues to USD 168 million, a 13% operating margin and a net income of USD 11.9 million. Recovery was led by the company's polysilicon division, which reported USD 151 million in sales. Like all solar photovoltaic (PV) equipment makers, GT has been hit hard by a collapse in orders over the last two years, and reported particularly heavy losses in the previous two quarters. SoCore Energy is a distributed solar photovoltaic (PV) project developer focused on commercial rooftop installations. SoCore Energy will become a wholly owned indirect subsidiary of Edison International. SoCore Energy’s management team, employees and operations will continue to be based in Chicago. Canadian Solar Inc. (Guelph, Ontario, Canada) on August 5th, 2013, announced that its subsidiary, Canadian Solar Solutions Inc., has entered into a sales agreement with Concord Pacific's green energy affiliate, Concord Green Energy (Vancouver), whereby Concord will acquire five utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) power projects totaling 49MW (AC) from Canadian Solar valued at over USD 277 million. Under the agreement, the five utility-scale solar power plants, located in Chesterville, Pefferlaw, Springwater, Sudbury and Wyebridge (Ontario) are expected to start construction during 2013 and 2014 with commercial operation expected in 2014. Global wind and solar developer Mainstream Renewable Power (Dublin, Ireland) and Japanese Trading Company Marubeni Corporation (Chiyoda, Tokyo) on August 5th, 2013 agreed on a EUR 100 million equity investment deal which sees Marubeni gaining a circa 25% holding in Mainstream. The deal, which is subject to shareholder approval, represents the largest single equity investment in the company's five and a half year history. As part of the agreement Marubeni obtains the right to representation on the Mainstream Board of Directors alongside Barclays which invested in the company in 2008.
