North American Development Bank to supply USD 68 million to fund 20 MW PV plant in Southern California

The North American Development Bank (NADB) and Grupo T-Solar Global S.A. (Madrid, Spain) on August 20th, 2013 announced the signing of a USD 67.6 million loan with Sol Orchard Imperial 1, LLC for the construction of a 20-MWAC solar photovoltaic (PV) park located in the city of El Centro in Imperial County, California. The electricity produced by the PV plant will be purchased by Imperial Irrigation District (IID), organized and operated under the Water Code of State of California to provide water and power to all of Imperial County and portions of Riverside and San Diego counties. China Sunergy Co., Ltd. (CSUN, Nanjing) on August 20th, 2013, announced that it has received carbon footprint certificates from the French photovoltaic (PV) engineering company Solstyce. The certificates were issued for the mono- and poly-crystalline CSUN modules “Made in Turkey” at its recently opened factory in Istanbul. The Carbon Footprint certificates are a mandatory requirement to participate in French tenders for solar photovoltaic plants with a size larger than 250 kWp. Tenders for more than 400 MW have been issued for submission by contractors to be handed in until 16th of September. Germany's Market Incentive Program for solar thermal process heat was introduced in August 2012. (Springfield, N.J.) on August 19th, 2013 announced that it has completed building phase 1 of a 7.2 MWp solar photovoltaic (PV) park for UniSource Energy Service (UES) in Rio Rico, Arizona. Phase 1 is 4 MW solar PV array. Phase 2 will be completed in December 2013 and commissioned in January 2014. When fully operational, the ground-mounted PV system will supply solar power to about 91,000 UES customers in Mohave and Santa Cruz counties, producing 13,110,680 kilowatt hours annually. After long delay, Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) has released figures for solar photovoltaic (PV) installations and approvals under its feed-in tariff through the end of May 2013. (Tempe, Arizona) and the City of Roseville, California, on August 20th, 2013 announced they have signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) for 32MWAC of solar power to be generated at the Lost Hills solar photovoltaic (PV) plant that First Solar is developing and will construct in Kern County, California. The 10-year PPA is First Solar’s first such agreement with a municipal utility, and will be effective in 2015. The PPA was approved by the Roseville City Council on July 17th, 2013.
