REC supplies PV modules for 3.6 MW rooftop self-consumption PV plant on AUDI car factory in Belgium

Renewable Energy Corporation ASA (REC, Sandvika, Norway) supplied almost 10,000 REC Peak Energy Series solar photovoltaic (PV) panels for a rooftop installation at Audi’s production plant in Brussels, Belgium. Built by REC partner Eoluz, the total solar rooftop installation of 3.6 MW, the largest in the Brussels region, is expected to generate more than 3,000 MWh of solar power every year, which will be used entirely by Audi for their assembly lines. Australia’s EEG to assemble Westinghouse Solar modules for local market

France selects 138 projects totaling 30 MW in rooftop PV tender

The government of France has released the results of its solicitation for rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) plants 100 – 250 kW in capacity held October 1st through December 31st, 2012, selecting 138 projects for a total capacity of 30 MW. Some of the more successful developers in the tender were Sun Premier France 2036 with 16 projects, Urba 17 with 15 projects and Mecojit with 11 projects. Roughly half the projects were in the three regions of Auquitane, Languedoc-Roussillion and Provence Alpes Côte d'Azur. Read more

PV production technology: Meyer Burger reports strong interest in MB-PERC systems at SNEC

(Baar, Switzerland) reports a high level of interest in its passivated emitter, rear contact solar cell (MB-PERC) photovoltaic (PV) technology at the SNEC International Photovoltaic Power Generation Conference & Exhibition in Shanghai in May 2013. The company notes that its MB-PERC technology and MaiA production tool has been installed in more than 1 GW of PV manufacturing globally. Meyer Burger also noted strong interest in its high performance heterojunction (HJT) cell technology, its SmartWire Connection technology and its DragonBack measurement system. Read more

Conergy supplies components for sixth 500 kilowatt solar park in Greece this year

Conergy (Hamburg, Germany) supplied components for one further solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant totaling 500 kilowatts (kW) on the Hellenic Peninsula. Conergy’s long-term partner Solar Element is acting as general contractor for the PV project and recently connected the power plant to the grid. Developing South American Solar: Playing the Long Game

Indian SREC demand, prices fall in May 2013

The Indian solar renewable energy credit (SREC) market has hit the lowest discovered price to date in May 2013, according to an analysis by RESolve Energy Consultants (Chennai, India). Weighted average SREC prices on the Indian Energy Exchange (IEX) and the Power Exchange India Ltd. (PXIL) fell to INR 11,186. RESolve notes that the demand for SRECs, as measured by buy bids, fell 76% from April 2013, while the total number of sell bids grew 36%. Read more

Regulators approve scaled-back version of PSE&G solar program

On May 29th, 2013 the Board of Public Utilities in the US state of New Jersey ruled that Public Service Electricity & Gas (PSE&G, Newark, New Jersey, US) may only invest USD 247 million in its Solar 4 All program over the next five years, instead of the USD 690 million that the company had originally requested. This will allow the development of 42 MW of solar photovoltaic (PV) plants on landfills and brownfields, and 3 MW of PV on government facilities and parking lots. The ruling also approves the addition of four sub-programs under Solar 4 All, as well as the utility's Solar Loan III program, which will support 97 MW of new PV. Read more

Australian Environmental Engineering Group to manufacture solar PV modules for Westinghouse Solar

Environmental Engineering Group Pty Ltd. (EEG, Stapylton, Australia) has signed an agreement to produce solar photovoltaic (PV) modules in Australia according to Westinghouse Solar Inc.'s (Campbell, California, US) proprietary design. Under the agreement EEG will serve as a contract assembler of new 250 watt AC and DC PV modules to Westinghouse's specifications. The modules will carry the Westinghouse Solar brand, and products for distribution in the United States will contain Taiwanese PV modules. Read more
