The Russian government has approved a new program to support the implementation of 1.2 GW of solar photovoltaic (PV) plants by 2020, as part of nearly 6 GW of renewable energy to be deployed by that date. Russia's Ministry of Energy says the program will be based on a competitive bidding process with tenders differentiated by resource, and a financial cap of RUB 85 billion (USD 2.64 billion).
