EnergyTrend explores post-tariff options: Chinese PV makers may export solar cells to be assembled in Europe
Wednesday, 5.29.2013 - 15:44 (Solarserver)
EnergyTrend's (Taipei City, Taiwan) TrendForce division has released an analysis of the possible responses by Chinese solar photovoltaic (PV) manufacturers to potential EU anti-dumping and countervailing duties. The company predicts that many Chinese manufacturers will choose not to export PV modules to the EU if duties are imposed, but may choose to export PV cells to be assembled into modules in Europe. It also predicts that Chinese companies will choose to instead make both PV cells and modules in other nations. Read moreBisol’s solar module plant at full capacity after upgrades

Wednesday, 5.29.2013 - 8:25 (Solarserver)
A recent study by researchers at the University of Texas (Austin, Texas, US) indicates that Tokyo could use solar photovoltaic (PV) generation as “baseload” power, due to Japan's large amount of pumped hydro storage. “Potential for rooftop photovoltaics in Tokyo to replace nuclear capacity” states that PV could help meet peak requirements as well as suppling roughly 26% of the electricity that Tokyo formerly received from nuclear generation 91% of the time. The study was originally published in the journal Environmental Research Letters. Read moreSolarWorld reports lower shipments, revenues in Q1 2013
