On April 22nd, 2013, Renewable Energy Corporation ASA (REC, Sandvika, Norway) announced that it has supplied 5.8 megawatts (MW) of solar photovoltaic (PV) panels for a power plant in Rajasthan, India. The ground-mounted PV system comprises 23,200 REC peak energy series solar panels and is expected to generate over 9,700 megawatt hours (MWh) of solar power every year. On April 16th, 2013, the board of commissioners of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) approved a competitive solicitation for 250 MW of solar photovoltaic (PV) projects, including 200 MW at its Beacon Solar PV project. Developers will bid to build 10-14 MW of “local” solar along with 40-56 MW at four Beacon sites. Bidding will commence later in 2013, and this “Bundled Solar Project” will serve as the final component of the “FiT150” portion of its CLEAN LA program. SF Solar Power has reached an agreement with New Kansai International Airport Co. Ltd. to construct an 11.6 megawatt (MW) solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant at Kansai International Airport in Japan. SF Solar Power is a new joint investment company formed by Solar Frontier (Tokyo, Japan) and Development Bank of Japan Inc. (DBJ). First Solar Inc. (Tempe, Arizona, US) has sold its 139 MW-AC Campo Verde solar photovoltaic (PV) project in Southern California to a subsidiary of Southern Company (Atlanta, Georgia, US) and Turner Renewable Energy (Atlanta, Georgia, US). Terms of the sale were not disclosed. Under the agreement, First Solar will complete the project and maintain it for the first 10 years. The government of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh has confirmed that it will offer a price of INR 6.49 (USD 0.120) per kWh of solar power to prospective developers through its solar photovoltaic (PV) tender. According to the “L1” price system used, Sunborne Energy's (Gurgaon, India) bid of INR 6.49/kWh will be used as the standard.
