The PV system is capable of covering 10% of Cedarville University's demand on average. NextEra to decrease size of Blythe PV project to 485 MW

NextEra Energy LLC (Juno Beach, Florida, US) has asked the California Energy Commission (CEC) for permission to decrease the size of its Blythe solar photovoltaic (PV) project in Southern California to 485 MW-AC. The Blythe project was originally proposed as a 1 GW concentrating solar power (CSP) project, and the CEC previously approved the switch to PV technology. Under the new plan, NextEra will build the plant in three phases of 125 MW-AC, followed by a 110 MW-AC phase. Read more

IHS: Chinese c-Si solar PV prices rising in the EU

IHS (Englewood, Colorado, US) reports that the average selling price for Chinese crystalline silicon (c-Si) solar photovoltaic (PV) modules in the European Union increased 4% in March 2013, the first increase since January 2009. IHS' “iSuppli PV Module Price Tracker” predicts that prices will increase another 1% in April 2013 and an average of 4% over the next three months. The Department of Energy (DOE) announced the next phase of development plans last week – it granted $18 million to four biorefineries to develop pilot-scale drop-in biofuels projects to meet military specifications for jet fuel and ship diesel.
