The World Bank's International Finance Corporation (IFC, Washington D.C.) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Chint Group (Beijing) to build solar projects and manufacturing plants in developing nations around the world. The two organizations also plan to acquire targeted companies that offer complementary products and services. The collaboration will build on Chint Group and IFC's work to build PV in India. Sputnik Engineering AG (SolarMax, Biel, Switzerland) has announced that it will supply inverters for five ground-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) projects totaling 61.4 MW in the London metropolitan area. The company will supply 127 of its SolarMax 360TS-SV central inverters in 65 SolarMax TS-SV Compact Stations. Ross Solar Group LLC (Worcester, Massachusetts, U.S.) has completed a 1.56 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) plant on a restaurant supply depot for Jetro Cash and Carry (New York City), as the largest PV plant in New York City. The plant in the Bronx borough is also the first in the city to integrate a supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system that allows utility ConEdison Inc. (New York City) to remotely monitor and control the system. This will support the city's grid and help to protect from power outages. Astronergy (Hangzhou, China) has signed contract documents with the insolvency administrator of Conergy AG (Hamburg, Germany) to acquire Conergy's solar photovoltaic (PV) module factory in Frankfurt (Oder) Germany. According to ongoing negotiations with the Works Council, 210 jobs of the facility's 280 jobs will be secured, ten more than announced in November 2013. The factory will now operate as Astronergy Solarmodule GmbH. Conergy notes that this follows on a history of cooperation between the two companies, which plan to sign a supply agreement for modules from the factory.
