Dye solar cell technology developer and provider Dyesol Limited (Queanbeyan, Australia) has entered formal discussions to finalise the terms for its role as an industrial partner at the Sustainable Product Engineering Centre for Innovative Functional Industrial Coatings (Specific). Located at the Baglan Bay Innovation and Knowledge Centre (Port Talbot, Wales, UK), Specific is a USD 19 million, 5-year project to improve dye solar cell (DSC) development and functionalise the building envelope for energy capture, storage and release. SMA downgrades 2013 forecast

SMA Solar Technology AG (Niestetal, Germany) has lowered its 2013 sales forecast to the narrow end of previous expectations at EUR 0.9-1.0 billion (USD 1.2-1.4 billion), with a loss of EUR 80-90 million (USD 110-120 million). The company blames a stronger than expected decline in European PV markets, resulting in negative sales and earnings in its Medium Power Solutions division, and also notes the ongoing restructuring of Chinese subsidiary Zeversolar (Suzhou, China). Advanced Energy PV inverter sales climb 11% in Q3 2013, restructuring completed

Advanced Energy Industries Inc. (AE, Fort Collins, Colorado, U.S.) has released results for the third quarter of 2013, reporting a 11% year-over-year increase in sales in its Solar Energy division to USD 67.5 million at a 0.2% operating margin. Despite company-wide revenues of USD 143 million, AE's USD 19.9 million in restructuring charges during the quarter left it with a loss of USD 1.4 million. The company notes that it has completed “virtually all” of its restructuring following the acquisition of REFUsol's (Metzingen, Germany) three-phase inverter line in April 2013, which it says will save USD 20-22 million annually. Canadian Solar to supply 100 MW PV project in Gansu Province, China

China Three Gorges New Energy Co. Ltd. (CTGNE, Beijing) has awarded Canadian Solar Inc. (Guelph, Canada) with a contract to supply 100 MW of solar photovoltaic (PV) modules to a PV project in China's Gansu Province. Canadian Solar will supply its 60-cell CS6P250P and CS6P-255P modules for the project, which it says produce over 6% more solar power annually than comparative modules. The company has already begun delivering modules, and is expected to complete shipments in December 2013. Read more

(Chongquing, China) on November 4th, 2013, revised its guidance for the third quarter of 2013, and now expects its polysilicon shipments to be in the range of 1,200 MT to 1,275 MT, compared to a prior guidance of 1,000 MT.
