PV Parity Project: Grid integration of 480 GW of PV in Europe relatively inexpensive

Friday, 10.11.2013 - 8:56 (Solarserver)

The European PV Parity Project (Brussels) has released a new report which confirms the technical feasibility of integrating 480 GW of solar photovoltaics (PV) in Europe between 2020 and 2030, and finds that this can be done at EUR 0.026 (USD 0.035) per kWh. This would cover roughly 15% of European electricity demand. “Grid Integration Cost of Photovoltaic Power Generation” finds that back-up capacity cost will be an important component of PV integration in Northern Europe, and that distribution networks will need to be reinforced across the continent.
