ECN unveils n-type PV cells in China

On January 2nd, 2013, ECN (Petten, Netherlands) announced that it has introduced its n-type photovoltaic (PV) cells at the China solar grade silicon and photovoltaic power generation conference (CSPV) in China. The PV market is dominated by solar panels based on p-type silicon, with the second technique, n-type silicon, being less developed, ECN emphasizes. However, n-type is generally considered to be the future for the PV industry due to its better performances, the company states.
