Applied Nanotech, YHCC open metallic ink, paste factory in Sichuan Province, China

Applied Nanotech Holdings Inc. (Austin, Texas, U.S.) and Sichuan Anxian Yinhe Construction & Chemical Group Company Ltd. (YHCC, Mianyang, China) have opened a new facility to produce aluminum and silver inks and pastes for solar photovoltaic (PV) cells in China's Sichuan Province. The plant will have a capacity of over 1,000 tons of inks and pastes annually, and is located in YHCC's high-tech industrial park in Sichuan Province, China. Western Wind Energy Corporation (Vancouver, Canada) has updated its 30 MW Yabucoa solar photovoltaic (PV) project in the US territory of Puerto Rico. This includes design changes to accommodate new inverters after the previous, un-named, inverter vendor entered into restructuring. Western Wind has provided revised civil and electrical drawings to the lender's independent engineer for review. The company states that progress on the Yabucoa plant and the recent extension of the US Production Tax Credit for wind generation will change the valuation of the company, which is currently up for sale. The US Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has released the final environmental impact statement (EIS) for the Quartzsite Solar Energy Project, a 100 megawatt (MW) concentrating solar power (CSP) project proposed for public land in the US state of Arizona. A transmission line associated with the project was also included in the EIS, and the BLM proposes right-of-way approvals for both. A final decision will be made on the project in spring 2013. As part of the US federal tax compromise reached during "fiscal cliff" negotiations, solar photovoltaic (PV), concentrating solar power (CSP) and other renewable energy projects will benefit from an extension of 50% bonus depreciation through the end of 2013. The deal also prevented an estimated 7.6% cut to pending Section 1603 grants for PV and CSP projects until at least early March 2013. The company's founders predict that Juwi's workforce of 1,800 employees globally will remain largely stable in future years due to these changes. By 2025, the region is expected to reach 46 GW of total installed wind capacity, according to the IHS Emerging Energy Research study, "Latin American Wind Power Markets and Strategies: 2010 ? 2025." Brazil is expected to lead the Latin American region with 31.6 GW of installed capacity by 2025, followed by Mexico with about 6.6 GW. Brazil is predicted to house 69 percent of the total Latin American installed wind capacity in 2025, positioning the country as a leader for development, turbine manufacturing and wind turbine component supply chain assembly.
