Aleo Solar AG (Prenzlau, Germany) has released preliminary results for the full year 2012, estimating a 39% decline in revenues to EUR 280 million (USD 374 million). Aleo states that it will close the year with a "substantial" net loss, but notes that its financing remains secured through a group credit facility granted by Robert Bosch GmbH (Gerlingen, Germany). On January 17th, 2013 the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) proposed reforms to interconnection procedures for small generators, which was hailed as a "major regulatory victory" by the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA, Washington DC, US). The Notice of Proposed Rulemaking covers four rule changes, including a measure to increase the size of renewable energy facilities eligible for a "fast track" interconnection process from 2 MW to 5 MW, which was proposed by SEIA in 2012. On January 17th, 2013 Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (Empa, Zürich, Switzerland) announced that it has achieved a world record 20.4% efficiency with a copper indium gallium diselenide (CIGS) solar photovoltaic (PV) cell on a flexible substrate. The new record was verified by the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE (Freiburg, Germany), and also exceeds the current 20.3% world record for CIGS PV cells on glass substrates. NPD Solarbuzz Inc. (Santa Clara, California, US) has released a new report which finds that solar photovoltaic (PV) production equipment spending fell 72% to USD 3.6 billion in 2012. NPD Solarbuzz' most recent "PV Equipment Quarterly" covers crystalline silicon technologies from ingot to module as well as thin-film PV. The report found that the leading equipment suppliers in 2012 were GT Advanced Technologies, Meyer Burger, Applied Materials and Apollo Solar.
