(Ontario, Canada) announced that its 148 megawatt (MW) solar photovoltaic (PV) project Meuro in southern Brandenburg, Germany, was named the 2012 winner of the Solar Project of the Year Award by POWER-GEN International. The 870 acres solar complex was constructed on a former lignite mining strip in the East German community of Meuro near Senftenberg. This compares to roughly 750 companies in 2010, 650 in 2011 and 500 in 2012.
