KYOCERA to Supply 30 MW of modules for a PV plant in Northern Japan

Kyocera Corporation (Kyoto, Japan) announced that its subsidiary in charge of domestic sales of solar equipment, Kyocera Solar Corporation, will provide 30 megawatts (MW) of solar photovoltaic (PV) modules (approximately 135,000 units) for a utility-scale PV power plant in the northern prefecture of Hokkaido, Japan. The project will be designed and constructed by Yonden Engineering Co., Inc. Read more

AEG Power Solutions? Protect PV.500 certified by TÜV Rheinland to meet UL 1741 certification

US hit high of 3.77GW PV module shipments in 2011

The US Department of Energy?s Energy Information Administration has released a report on annual PV module shipments in the US. Solar Photovoltaic Cell/Module Shipments Report 2011, states that US shipments reached a record high of 3.77GW, an increase of 43% since 2010. The report lists declining PV cell and module prices, along with an installation rush at the end of the year due to the conclusion of grant programmes amongst its reasons for the increase. Read more

Isofoton, Saudi Arabian company INDSYS announces 300 MW PV projects in Saudi Arabia

Isofoton SA (Málaga, Spain) has signed a joint venture agreement with Industrial Systems Corp. (INDSYS, Riyadh), a Saudi Arabian company with a significant interest in the renewable energy sector, in order to install 300 megawatt (MW) of solar photovoltaic (PV) plants in Saudi Arabia. The deal was signed on August 15th, 2012, Isofoton reports in a press release. Read more

Recurrent Energy touts value amid reports of sale by Sharp

Recurrent Energy LLC (San Francisco, California, U.S.) has issued a statement in response to media reports that Sharp Corporation (Osaka, Japan) will sell the company for JPY 25 billion (USD 320 million). While Recurrent was unable to confirm whether or not this sale will take place, the company did state that it feels that it offers excellent value to investors. The Kyodo News Agency reported Sharp's plans for the sale as part of a restructuring plan on September 25th, 2012. Read more

SoloPower opens new factory to manufacture flexible thin-film PV in Oregon

SoloPower (San Jose, California, U.S.) has opened a new facility to manufacture its flexible copper indium gallium diselenide (CIGS) solar photovoltaic (PV) cells and modules in Portland, Oregon, United States. The company's Portland operations are eventually expected to have an annual output capacity of 400 MW. The start-up of the factory is supported by a USD 197 million loan guarantee through the U.S. Department of Energy which closed in August 2012. Read more

Paramount says that in addition to Clean Power Finance's financial products, the company's online sales software allows it to sell, quote and design residential PV customers more efficiently. JinkoSolar to supply China Power International with 40 MW of modules for PV projects in Gansu Province

JinkoSolar will deliver 163,000 high-efficiency PV modules to the two projects in the cities of Baiyin and Wuwei. The company estimates that locations for the plants receive 2550 to 3030 hours of sunlight annually, feature flat terrain and offer easy access to both the electricity grid and transportation.
