Monday, 7.16.2012 - 12:03 (Solarserver)
Imec (Leuven, Belgium) unveiled a 20.04% efficient, large-area crystalline silicon (c-Si) solar photovoltaic (PV) cell at the Intersolar North America 2012 trade show in San Francisco (California, U.S.), which it says can be produced using low-cost manufacturing processes. Imec used a passivated emitter and rear cell (PERC) process to create the PV cell, which it says maximizes the conversion efficiency while maintaining cost-effective device concepts and processing. The 125 mm x 125 mm Cz p-type PV cell utilizes a homogeneous emitter and silver-single screen-printed front-side contacts, as well as adapted aluminum back-side metalization. Monday, 7.16.2012 - 8:56 (Solarserver)
U.S. imports of Chinese solar photovoltaic (PV) cells and modules increased 76% sequentially to USD 124.1 million in May 2012, while falling 45% over May 2011. These declining shipments follow U.S. Department of Commerce (DoC) rulings establishing preliminary anti-dumping and countervailing duties totaling 35% for most Chinese PV imports. Chinese imports have been declining year-over-year for several months, but the USD 1.21 billion imported in the first five months of 2012 is still 22% greater than the USD 993 million imported in the first five months of 2011.
