University of Buffalo inaugurates 750 kW PV plant, designed by renowned landscape architect Walter Hood

On April 23rd, 2012, the University at Buffalo (UB) and New York Power Authority (NYPA) announced the dedication and activation of the 750 kW "Solar Strand" photovoltaic (PV) project at the university. The PV array will save more than USD 60,000 in annual electricity costs and will result in the avoidance of nearly 400 tons of greenhouse gases each year. Read more

JinkoSolar modules show strong performance at PHOTON outdoor tests

On April 25th, 2012, JinkoSolar Holding Company Ltd. (Shanghai, China) announced that its mono- and multicrystalline solar photovoltaic (PV) modules received high yield performance ratings in PHOTON Laboratory's January 2012 outdoor field tests. The company achieved the highest unit power yield for its 235P modules, which tested at 33.1 kWh/kW during January, the first month that JinkoSolar introduced its multicrystalline PV modules to the test. Swiss milk companies Emmi and Cremo choose NEP Solar concentrating collectors for the supply of solar process heat

NEP Solar AG (Zürich, Switzerland) has received orders for delivery of parabolic trough collectors to two process heat installations with leading milk industry companies in Switzerland, the company reports in a press release. Both projects will be commissioned in summer 2012. NEP Solar will deploy its new PolyTrough 1800 collectors, which reportedly have a 50% larger aperture than the PolyTrough 1200 and are 10% more efficient. Read more

Chinese PV producer Phono Solar to supply German system integrator Sybac Solar with 500 MW of PV modules

On April 25th, 2012, Phono Solar (Nanjing, China), a producer of monocrystalline and polycrystalline silicon solar photovoltaic (PV) modules, announced that it has signed a 5-year supply agreement with SYBAC Solar AG. Under the agreement, Phono Solar will supply 500 MW to SYBAC Solar for EUR 300m. The agreement was officially signed on April 24th, 2012, at Hannover Messe, Germany. Read more

On April 23th, 2012, the Maine Public Utilities Commission and 3Degrees (San Francisco, California, U.S.) announced a statewide voluntary green power program. The program, Maine Green Power, offers electric customers the opportunity to purchase locally produced renewable energy.
