Advanced Energy supplies inverters to REgeneration for more than 8 MW of PV projects

On March 13th, 2012, Advanced Energy Industries Inc. (Fort Collins, Colorado, U.S.) announced that it will supply its commercial inverters to REgeneration Finance for more than 8 megawatts (MW) of U.S. distributed generation photovoltaic (PV) projects. The company did not provide any financial details. REgeneration will install more than 61 of Advanced Energy?s commercial inverters, ranging in power levels from 35 kilowatts (kW) to 260 kW. REgeneration selected Advanced Energy?s PV inverters for their ability to meet the unique design and system size requirements of each project. On March 13th, 2012, Solar3D Inc. (Santa Barbara, California, U.S.), the developer of a breakthrough 3-dimensional solar cell technology, announced that it will conduct a study of the economics and benefits of integrated Solar3D cells directly into roof tiles. (Portland, Oregon, U.S.) issued a new report stating that clean-energy markets continued to expand rapidly in 2011 despite a tough economic and political climate, increased industry consolidation and downward pricing pressures on manufacturers. According to the "Clean Energy Trends 2012" report, combined global revenue for solar photovoltaics (PV), wind power and biofuels rose 31% over the prior year, growing from USD 188.1 billion in 2010 to USD 246.1 billion in 2011. (Shanghai, China) released its fourth quarter and full year 2011 results, reporting a 32% decrease in revenues to USD 155 million, an operating loss of USD 160 million, and a net loss of USD 132 million. The company notes that its shipments decreased 5.9% sequentially during the quarter, while average selling prices fell 20% to USD 1.00 per watt. Over the full year, the company saw a 15% decrease to USD 1.02 billion in revenues, a -17% operating margin, and a net loss of USD 148 million. Tough market conditions for Hanwha SolarOne led to fourth quarter losses and sliding shipments and average selling prices, which were below in-house manufacturing costs. Although the company posted 2011 revenue above the US$1.0 billion level, the company reported a net loss of US$169.8 million. PV module shipments were 189.1MW, in the fourth quarter, a decrease of 5.9% from 200.9MW in prior quarter. Module shipments for 2011 reached 844.4MW, representing an increase of 5.8% from 797.9MW in 2010. Hanwha SolarOne guided 2012 shipments to be in the range of 1GW. On March 12th, 2012 Applied Energy Technologies (AET, Maumee, Ohio, U.S.) began manufacturing solar photovoltaic (PV) mounting solutions at a new facility in Maumee in the U.S. state of Ohio. The company states that the 10,000 square meter facility will produce all of its current products, reaching an annual output of 150 MW of its Rayport solar mounting systems and 300 MW of its new ground-mount systems at full capacity.
