IFP Energies nouvelles, Ciel et Terre develop floating solar power system

On December 19th, 2012, IFP Energies nouvelles (IFPEN, Rueil-Malmaison, France) and Ciel et Terre (Lille, France) announced that they have developed Hydrelio, the world's first large-scale floating solar power generation system. The new solar power generation concept addresses the problems of land availability and landscape impacts that large-scale land-based solar power generation projects come up against. Intersolar Europe, the world's largest exhibition for the solar industry, came out on top in the Energy sector of the Industries and Institutions category amid stiff competition from fellow applicants based across Europe. California agencies release interim document on desert renewable energy conservation plan

California State and federal agencies have released an interim document to set guidelines for the development of solar and other renewable energy projects in the California desert while protecting biological and natural resources. The Desert Renewable Energy Conservation Plan (DRECP) identifies between 800 and 1,400 square kilometers as development focus areas.
