Suntech Power Holdings Company Ltd. (Wuxi, China) has released preliminary, unaudited financial results for the third quarter of 2012, as well as an update on the assets Global Solar Fund SCA, Sicar (GSF), in which it holds an 80% stake. Suntech reports USD 387 million in quarterly revenues, an 18% decline over the previous quarter, a gross margin of roughly 5%, and USD 98 million in operating expenses. These revenues represent a 52% decline from the third quarter of 2011, and the company expects a further decline in shipments and margins in the fourth quarter of 2012. Soitec SA (Bernin, France) will hold a grand opening ceremony for its new 1.64 hectare concentrating photovoltaic (CPV) manufacturing facility in San Diego, California, on December 19th, 2012. The plant will have an annual output of 280 MW of CPV modules at full capacity, and will support Soitec CPV projects in California and throughout the US Southwest. The company currently has power purchase agreements for more than 300 MW of CPV projects with California utilities.
